David's website
David has been playing around lately with our family website. He is doing a better job at adding pictures there than I am on here. If you want to check it out, send me an email and I'll get you the link.

Halloween

Here are some pictures we took of the kiddos in their Halloween costumes. Katie insisted on being the blue butterfly, and Cailin wanted to be the yellow one. Elijah was Roo. On Halloween night, we took the girls trick or treating for their first time. They had a lot of fun...for about 8 houses, then they were done and Cailin kept saying "go back to the van now."
Here's another picture of David playing softball. His softball seasons are over for now, so he is getting excited about snowboarding. I'm sure there will be some snowboarding pictures on here before too long, too.
For any that may be wondering, Cailin is doing great. She got her stitches out yesterday, and takes good care of her "owie" so it should keep healing well.

Poor Cailin
David and I have been saying for a while that Cailin will be the first kid to have to go to the emergency room, and unfortunately, today she proved us right. She got her finger in a door at church, and cut off the tip (not completely, but almost). The doctor sewed it back on and she didn't break the bone, but she may not be able to grow her finger nail back :-( Right now we just have to wait and see how it heals. She was sooo good through the whole sad ordeal, I'm so proud of her (at the same time I feel like a terrible mom because I was with her when she got hurt).

Elijah's first smile, and my family
So the camera is still lost :-( We are looking into buying a new one. Until then, David discovered that he had downloaded the pictures from the camera onto his computer just before we lost it. So, here is the picture that I really wanted to share. Sorry it's dark, I didn't take time to edit it.

This was only the second time ever that Elijah smiled at me (a real smile, at least).
Two more pictures - my family. This was the whole clan of us at Ragged Mountain. Andy is turning 19 in November, and we wanted a chance to spend some time together as an entire family before he goes on his mission. I think Dad positioned us on a hill so he could look taller than his sons-in-law. Nice trick :-)
Here my parents are with all 10 grand kids. We gave them numbers 8, 9, and 10. Now it is someone else's turn-how about it Amanda???

More random kid pictures
I like this picture of Elijah. He was one day short of one month old. He is a lot chunkier now, but we lost our camera, so I can't post any recent pictures :-( I will when we find it.
I told Cailin to smile for a picture, and this was the result.
The day we found out we were going to have twins, I told David "They are going to be best friends!"
Sad Elijah in his blessing outfit.

Introducing Elijah David Alder
So I have decided to join the "blogging" community, and what better time to do so then after the birth of my newest baby! This way any who might want an update on my growing family can get one, and I am not over-emailing those that don't :-)
All cleaned up and fast asleep with his 4th of July hat on.

Our new family of 5. This was taken the day we got home from the hospital, when Elijah was a day and a half old.
He looks so much older when he is awake.
Here's the birth story, I'll try to keep it short. At about 11:15pm on July 4th my water broke (as we were walking up the stairs to our apartment after getting home from fireworks) and we headed to the hospital. After a LONG sleepless night of back pain but no real contractions, they started me on pitocin at 8:00 or 8:30am, and things picked up quickly. At about 11:30am I was ready to push and at 11:50am on July 5th baby Elijah David Alder was born weighing 7lbs 4oz and 20" long! David and I were able to hold him immediately. It was an amazing experience.
Here is Elijah's first picture with Daddy. He is still grey and gooey because he is just a couple of minutes old.
Proud (?) big sisters Katie and Cailin. We love this picture of them because of the silly expressions on their faces. Now that Elijah is here, my baby girls don't seem like such babies any more :-(
Elijah's fuzz head. His hair is my favorite feature.
And finally, here are some pictures I took yesterday of Elijah - one week old.
Cailin loves her little brother (so does Katie). Here Cailin was playing "little piggies" with his toes.
Well, I guess that is it for now. Now we just have to see how often I actually update this :-)
